This summer, the shores of Lake Lanier transformed into a bustling hub of excitement and community spirit during the Southern Surf Slam, an exhilarating multi-day event presented by Surf ATL. As proud sponsors, Sympleaf Sport CBD™ was thrilled to be a part of an event that not only showcased premier wake surfing competitions but also brought together food, entertainment, and culture in a family-friendly environment. This spectacular gathering took place at Lake Lanier Olympic Park, drawing a diverse crowd of surf enthusiasts, families, and festival-goers, all united by a shared passion for surf and sport.

Community and Charity at the Heart

The Southern Surf Slam was about more than just sports; it was a celebration of community and giving back. Through various fundraising activities, including art walls and raffle giveaways featuring stunning artworks by Greg Mike and Wolfdog from ABV Gallery, we managed to raise an impressive $6,000. These funds will be distributed equally among three meaningful causes: the Lake Lanier Association, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, and the Caribbean Surf Connection. Each of these organizations plays a vital role in our community—from enhancing the quality and safety of Lake Lanier to empowering young people to nurture the transformative power of surfing in the Dominican Republic.

Event Highlights and Attractions

The event kicked off with a Pro/Am Clinic, setting the stage for the opening rounds of the Wake Surf Competition. The excitement was palpable as competitors from various categories showcased their skills, striving for a spot in the finals. Beyond the competition, attendees enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere filled with food trucks, sponsor tents, and a plethora of activities and games suitable for all ages.

One of the event’s most visually captivating features was the live art wall painting sessions by renowned artists ABV and Greg Mike, whose dynamic works added a splash of creativity and color to the festivities. The event also included workshops like the Skate ATL Workshop, which provided both beginners and seasoned skaters a chance to hone their skills.

As the sun set on Lake Lanier, the sounds of live music filled the air, featuring performances by Gnarly Chaplin, Hotel Fiction, Cicada Rhythm, and the Kevin Kinney Trio. The combination of thrilling sports, artistic expression, and live entertainment encapsulated the spirit of the Southern Surf Slam, making it a memorable weekend for everyone involved.
